Game on.
Brian Cresente, EIC of Kotaku, lost his Wii recently. More importantly to me as a somewhat intelligent consumer, he’s lost TEN Xbox 360s during that time.
TEN.
I beat Mass Effect 2 a while back and didn’t bother reviewing it, not because it was bad but rather because I didn’t seem worthy to review something so awesome.
That being said, I’m too busy to actually get around to writing out a review so I’ll just go out and say that it’s a serious “Top 3” contender for Game of the Year… IN JANUARY.
It’s going to be an expensive (but good) year.

I might openly discuss my dislike for almost everything Microsoft on a daily basis but even I have to admit that the gang over at Microsoft Game Studios, also known as Turn 10, know how to make one hell of a racing game.
The Pros:
- The car and environment graphics look fantastic. They’re fluid, realistic and really seem to push the power of the system in the best way possible.
- The menu music and layout is very elegantly put together. From the voice of the announcer to the fade-ins and outs of the menus, the game just looks and feels extremely polished and, for lack of a better word, pretty.
- The selection of cars is improved over the last game’s adding more than fifty new cars to the already huge library of automobiles available to use.
- The game’s soundtrack is totally fitting of a racing game and and is full of awesome tunes.
- The game features an almost endless level of customization. Paint, decals and all kinds of other options are available to you when working on your car. Aside from that, there’s an insane amount of tweaks you can make to the tuning of the car or even the AI of your opponents. This was all started back in Forza Motorsport 1 but you can see that it’s come quite a ways since then.
- The mechanics, along with the adjustments you can make to your difficulty and the ability to rewind and rewrite some of your race, make it simple for people who’re completely new to the racing genre to just grab the controller and play the game.
Honestly, I can’t think of anything that’s really annoying enough in Forza Motorsport 3 to necessitate a “Cons” section like I normally have in these reviews. I mean, I could probably nitpick if I had to, but I don’t. This is really just that good of a racing game.
Chances are, if you’re into racing games and own a 360, that you already own this game but, if for some reason you don’t, go get it. It’s fantastic.
Forza Motorsport 3 - 5/5
Tonight during Microsoft’s CES Keynote a little earlier, the company announced that Project Natal would be hitting stores sometime during the 2010 Holiday season and that the new peripheral would “eliminate the final obstacle in gaming: the controller”.
For starters, I haven’t personally ever thought of a gaming controller as an obstacle. Well, maybe the Wiimote but, for the most part, the controller has always been one of the most important parts of a video game console.
For seconders, fanboyism aside, am I the only person that thinks Natal looks completely terrible?
