PlayStation Home Update v1.35 Now Available Pt.2

So, after cruising around in PlayStation Home for about an hour and a half, it’s pretty clear that the Home team has been pretty hard at work to improve on the service and reliability of the program as well. In the entire time I visited the network, it crashed on me twice. Compare this to my previous adventures, which revolved around not even being able to log in or being booted from the program in less than 60 seconds multiple times, and I’d say things are certainly looking up for Home.

While I was logged in, I downloaded some new clothes for my avatar including a pair of aviator sunglasses, a new shirt, a nice pair of shoes and a baseball hat. After wandering around my apartment for a while and chatting with some of the other Home users, I decided to grab a new living space known as the Zombie Deadquarters, which you can see below:

After decorating the room with a handful of trinkets I had earned from a bunch of my games, along with some of the pictures I had on my HDD, it felt pretty homey.

Overall, Home is a much better experience than it was before and, with weekly events taking place within it, it only looks to be improving. However, at the end of the day, there’s not a heck of a lot here that would make me come back on a continuous basis but it’s interesting to check in from time to time and take part in some of the events if you’ve got some spare time.

PlayStation Home Update v1.35 Now Available Pt.1

PlayStation Home, a free Second Life-esque social networking experiment created by Sony which runs within the confines of the PS3, has reached version 1.35 as of today and launches with a brand new XMB style navigation system and several overall tweaks to the program itself.

I’ve steered clear of Home since the open beta launched a while back but feel that I should give it another shot now that a number of the issues have been addressed and (hopefully) fixed.

My avatar is in desperate need of some new threads so if you’re currently checking out the newly updated PlayStation Home, send me a line. We’ll go shoe shopping.

PSN: themikehaynes

I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t going to get one of these when they hit stores later this year. I’m just hoping that the PS3 game library doesn’t become overloaded with shovel-ware crap like the Wii’s has.
